South Azerbaijan Republic Party’s Statement on the pollution of the Araz River by Armenia and violation of the ecological condition of the surrounding area’s nature and ecosystem
Environmental disasters are problems that concern not only the whole world and humanity but also individual states and nations. In recent days, bringing up the plan to build a large Metallurgy factory around Araz’s riverside area in Nakhchivan which is the border with Armenia has caused everyone’s concern. For a long time, information about the pollution of the Araz River committed by Armenia has been increasing day by day. For this reason, the mentioned topic is already attracting the attention of the local and international community.
Therefore, the mentioned issue has seriously worried the South Azerbaijani Republic Party (SARP) and its supporters since the first day. Thus, the violation of the ecological balance on the Araz River coast by Armenia will seriously affect not only the creatures living in the Araz River but also the flora and fauna of the area. It is known to everyone that biodiversity will be completely destroyed in these areas. This planned ecocide deeply affects Azerbaijanis living on both sides of the Araz River. Due to the fact that for years, the discharge of the most dangerous radioactive waste from the “Metsamor” nuclear power plant of Armenia into the Araz River has been polluting the underground waters of West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, Mughan and Ardabil provinces in the south of Azerbaijan. This planned ecological catastrophe will result in health issues and increase excessive skin, stomach and intestinal cancer in our people, and also destroy agriculture and animal life.
Although national and regional Human rights activists of South Azerbaijan have repeatedly highlighted this crime as ecocide, not only does the Iranian state remain indifferent to this issue, but also at the same time, the cleric mullah regime plays a major role in destroying the nature of the region, exactly same as Armenia.
South Azerbaijan Republic Party (SARP) considers the importance of urgent and immediate action to take control of the Armenian metallurgical factory, to stop new constructions, and to protect the Araz River at the international level, before the scale of the tragedy expands further.
South Azerbaijan Republic Party (SARP) openly declares that it is in favour of opening a case through the international court against those companies and states that cause an ecological disaster, seriously endanger the health of the people of Azerbaijan and the region, also harm the nature and animals of the region.
South Azerbaijan Republic Party (SARP) is seriously concerned about the scale of this planned ecocide on the health of citizens in Azerbaijan and the threat to the nature of Azerbaijan and considers that it is important to discuss this unlawful issue at the international level urgently, and will take steps in this regard.
Dear national and Human Rights activists and people of Azerbaijan, we should not remain silent and watch the artificial and engineered ecological crimes that are poisoning and destroying our homeland and regions. For our future generations, we must stand guard and all together over our homeland, raise our voices of protest, and condemn the criminal acts of Armenia.
